UK Boating TV is produced by Serious Leisure TV, a TV production company based in Felixstowe, Suffolk. It is owned and managed by Chris Gosling.
Chris has had a history of starting "interesting" small businesses, which have gone on to become surprisingly large businesses, he says. He became involved with the internet back in 1997, when he started the amdram website (now at www.amdram.co.uk), and then started the UK's first serious online local TV broadband site, www.felixstowetv.co.uk - both of these are now run by other people.
In early 2006, Chris started filming caravanning material for The Caravan Channel website, and in September came to an arrangement to show the programmes on Information TV, who broadcast on Sky channel 167.
He feels that UK Boating is a natural development from The Caravan Channel, and in early 2007 registered this website. Programmes based around it will come to air on Information TV starting from August 2007, and the plan is to film and show a new programme every two weeks.
Chris "semi-retired" in 2000, and went sailing for 6 months. He enjoyed extensive travel on the French canals in 2001, and followed this with nearly foru months on the UK's canals in 2003. He took his original Yachtmasters Offshore theory course around 35 years ago, when the idea of GPS hadn't occurred to anyone!
